Defending Practices from Payer Audits

Coopersmith Health Law Group has successfully defended a wide range of medical practices from payer audits. The physicians and hospitals faced large repayment demands, the threat of termination, the threat of being reported to the National Practitioner Data Bank, and other adverse action.
Coopersmith Health Law Group has negotiated favorable settlements with Regence BlueShield, Premera, Medicare, Medicaid, L & I, and the Department of Health that have reduced repayment demands and saved physician practices from terminations, license suspensions, and non-renewal of their liability coverage.

Protecting Physicians and their Practices

Coopersmith Health Law Group successfully represented the WSMA in a case that posed the greatest potential harm to patients and physicians — Premera's attempt to become a for-profit corporation. The firm helped the WSMA demonstrate that the proposed conversion would give Premera strong incentives to slash coverage for the sickest and poorest patients in Washington State, as well as threaten the ability of physicians to provide patient care.
